A missing lighting diffuser outside the toilet in 54504 has been fitted, courtesy of our friends at the NNR for giving us one to use! The front end painting has been nearly finished, and the front of the vehicle is rather shiny. One of our new members has taken a paintbrush and worked on the detail to the front, including copious amounts of chassis black. The outside of the unit was washed, and the inside of the cabs given a good cleaning from the recent fallout.

A quiet week at Pentrefelin depot, however we have had a unit out on a large number of midweek days.

Over at the Midland a working party undertook some work to put some windows back together in the Gloucester. This involved cutting back the rubber strips, and grinding down part of the metal to allow the sliding lights to move freely. Three windows had been completed fully by the end of the day.

The sealant used to seal the windows when they had been fitted was also tidied up. The timber tops which had been recut to fit the differing profile in second class have been fitted, followed by various other parts required, followed by the sliding lights which are held in place with an aluminium bar. A slow but necessary part of the job!

The 104 had become due an FP exam, the last one it will receive before the major 6 yearly M exam comes due over the winter. Other than the usual oil top ups, the only item of note was a blown lightbulb in the toilet!

Attention then turned back to the front of 54504. The needle gun was back in action, and has done a good job on revealing the metal under layers of paint! The spare dummies and sockets for the jumpers also recieved some attention ready for painting.
