There has been progress with the upgrade of Class 108 51907’s fire system this week. The new detector wire for the no 1 engine has been run and clipped up while that for the other engine is also almost complete. This system detects if fire breaks out on one of the engines and alerts the driver by means of a fire alarm bell. It also automatically shuts down the engine.

Repainting of the Class 108 continues. The driver’s side of 51907 is now complete, except for lining while the driver’s side of the trailer is in undercoat. The final side of the four, the secondman’s side of the power car, has now been rubbed down.

The Wickham unit has been in for an A Exam and this was completed with no additional faults found.

In the depot the yard gates have been adjusted as they were not lining up correctly and our water still, for making battery water, has been assembled and has had a test.

Services at the weekend were worked by the Class 104 but this was swapped for the Wickham on Sunday night as it is also now due a scheduled A Exam. The Wickham was used on Monday.
