Preserving yesterday for tomorrow sums our organisation up perfectly. Our aim is to Preserve, Maintain, and Operate our railcars for the benefit of the public and future generations.

Preservation - We aim to build up a skilled team to restore and look after our railcars.

Education - We have sought to bring together technical data, written material and photographs of Railcars. Maintenance and workshop schedules have been retained and are supplied to similar organisations on request.

Service - We aim to use the trains for their original purpose and in this context we operate much of the off-peak traffic at the Llangollen Railway. We also operate our trains from time to time at other heritage railways.

Many of our services run at times when it would be uneconomical for our host railways to operate other forms of trains, thus extending the season with consequent benefit to the local economy. We cover about 7,500 miles per year. Our Charitable Company is partly financed by charges to the Llangollen Railway but the rest is raised by our members and volunteers. In the past we also have been awarded substantial grant funding - mainly from the Heritage Lottery Fund, which awarded £129,000 towards the total rebuilding of the unique Wickham two-car set. Llangollen Railcars Ltd is a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable status.
